It was a fabulous weekend for rock guitarist David Gogo at the 2014 Juno Awards in Winnipeg. He spent time locked in discussion with industry leading artists and back room dignitaries sharing stories, whiskey and music!
Being nominated for the 4th time, Gogo, is well versed in the culture and myth that surrounds the festivities. That knowledge has allowed him to take advantage of the wonderful opportunities that the weekend offers.
David wishes Downchild Blues Band sincere congratulations for winning in the Blues Album of The Year category and hopes to cross paths with the lads later in the year.
The weekend in Winnipeg provided ample opportunities to practice the fine arts of outdoor warming techniques and partying skills. It also provided wonderful performance opportunities with artists normally scattered across the country and beyond. Gogo had some wonderful times playing with Steve Marriner (MonkeyJunk), Tony D (MonkeyJunk), Roberto Occhipinti (bass player/producer) and Fred Penner - yes, that Fred Penner - at the Gibson Guitar party after the Juno Gala on Saturday night. Opening for them on the evening was Juno honouree - Randy Bachman.
The Red Carpet gave Gogo the opportunity to air his wonderful handmade white coat:
People were remarking about his fashion sense and choices of attire. It was all favourable, of course!
But, there was more! Sharing the stage with Ian DíSa (Billy Talent) while Gogo played Jim Cuddyís guitar, the pair shredded it up during a spirited jam with Shakura SíAida. Is there a new Canadian super group in the making?
The award season isnít over. The Indie Award nominees where recently announced and David Gogoís name was again on the list. He is nominated for Blues Album of the Year.
All this heady stuff hasnít been lost on the lad, but Gogo is now readying for his return to the road.
